CHRIS TONKS
Chris has represented clients successfully before a variety of forums including government tribunals, civil matters before the Superior Court of Justice, and criminal defence matters before both the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice. Chris acts for private individuals and corporate clients, as well as non-profit organizations. Regardless of the complexity of the problem or issues, Chris successfully provides a high level of service to all his clients.
Born and raised in the West end of Toronto, Chris attended the University of Toronto for his undergraduate studies. His primary study areas included Economics, Accounting, and Political Sciences. After his undergrad, Chris travelled abroad to attend Law school at the University of Wales located in the city of Cardiff, just west of London. Upon return from his International experience, he enrolled at the University of Ottawa law school for supplemental studies prior to being called to the Ontario Bar in 2006.
In the November 2006 municipal elections, Chris was elected in the Toronto riding of York-South Weston to serve as Trustee at the Toronto District School Board. In his role as Trustee, Chris is responsible for budgetary, administrative, and management oversight of the largest school board in Canada.
Chris also serves on The Board of Directors of the Toronto Foundation for Student Success (TFSS), a charitable organization dedicated to alleviating hunger of children in schools in order to foster a better learning environment and increasing student success.
